The blogosphere seems like one vast ocean of knowledge, inspiration, creativity, questions, musings, thoughts, fancies, cribs, scattered emotions, non-sense – every single thing that defines us. At times I’m happy to see that such a thing actually exists and at times I’m simply awed by this unbelievably never-ending process of dissemination!
One of the best parts about blogs is that you are sure to find an expression to some of your deepest thoughts which you could never put into words. I came across this post on Atul’s blog. It’s something that I have been thinking about since long but could never spell out so neatly…
...blogs, like memories, don't die. Or something to that effect. And I believe so. People delete blogs, they stop writing at their blogs, yet blogs themselves don't die. They may be pushed back in the darkest deepest recesses of an inaccessible server somewhere, but they don’t die. At worst, they don't grow - they stagnate for want of nutrition.

Hey Bhumika, thanks for the link back and your comment on Gaizabonts. Have been reading through your posts and seems I have good reason to keep coming. You have been RSS'ed! (erm...your blog has been, actually!)
Thanks Atul. Enjoyed reading your posts yesterday. Hope to learn a lot from you :)

Interesting, but why are you thinking about blog's deaths? You're not contemplating doing that, I hope?
What'll I do in office then, work? :)
It so happened that a very regular fellow-blogger suddenly stopped blogging. I would visit her blog every single day. We had never interacted and I’d written very few comments on her blog, so there was no way I could get in touch with her. As strange as this may sound, I got a bit worried and prayed to god that she was fine. It was then that this thought came to my mind – what if something happens to me? How will people know about it? Or what if I stop writing all of a sudden? As a blogger, wouldn’t I be declared dead?
“Blogs don’t die. Bloggers do.”

don’t panic Swapnil, I shall continue to contribute towards your ‘hard-earned’ salary :P
I'd gone to a play which had smatterings of what you've written. Don't recall the name, but one of the protagonists was obsessed with his virtual identity and actually posed the question:
"After I die, what'll happen to my email id? Who will check scraps on my Orkut scrap book? ...and who will respond?"
hmm..."virtual identity"...loads to comment on that...shall write sth on it soon...but seriously, what will happen to my mails after i die??
Very true.
..the same that happens to your things including your tombstone if you have one..a few tears shed, a few flowers sent, a random visitor at your tomb..a sudden visit by a person loved..
@anil
thanks for dropping by...
@kay
hmmm...should i panic a little less now??
B, doesn't really make sense to panic about things that are in-evitable..
But panic's a great feeling too..The last time i felt that was when i was 12 years old and had to turn up in the lead in all the songs, dances and skits and had the first outburst of pimples on my face..
;)
Kay, let’s assume that I stop blogging ‘cos I’m dead. People who know me in person will mourn, but what about people like you? You know me as the writer of this blog, that’s it. You might check my blog for a couple of months or days and then? You will assume sth and forget that such a blog did exist.
You know, we always look for gratification (even after death!). You are sure your loss would affect your loved ones, but people on the blogosphere will not lament so much. There’s always another blog to fill the ‘void’, if there is any. That’s what makes me panic. People will eventually forget me and i know its inevitable…
Trust me on this...if anyone has touched you in anyway, blogosphere, atmosphere, biosphere or any realms of your personal sphere a change in anyway will affect a change on the one you touched..
You can see the mourning of some and some will be unseen..And if it;s death that's brought the change, it's just another part..
those who want to forget, will..and those who don't will always remember you..without the traditional form of mourning..
thanks kay. that indeed touched my heart :)
